The Gruebi Bad, Adelboden (Switzerland)
This 164 ft panorama swimming pool in the Swiss Alps was inaugurated in 1931 and reinaugurated in 2019 after a complete renovation.
The last refurbishment of the pool took place in 2004 and consisted of reducing the size of the pool to the half because of the landslide.
The current refurbishment took place taking into account that the whole facility if under a preservation order. That’s why today, almost 90 years later, it looks like it used to be in 1931.
Among all the renovations, the pool basin was extented to its original 164 ft, it was relined with RENOLIT ALKORPLAN2000 Light Blue and a one-of-a-kind adjustable overflow gutter was installed, so that the water would uniformly drain in spite of the inclined location of the pool on a landslide that moves every year downhill.
The Gruebi Bad is by the way one of the few 164 ft open-air swimming pools in the Swiss Alps.
